Reputation

reputation is what my project and thesis focus should be.

As I had my green-light presentation (and got orange) last Monday they three following questions came to me to answer be the beginning of august:

  1. What is Reputation
  2. What are the problems with reputation (and which problems in which area)
  3. What is my product gonna do about these problems (and in which area)

the Strong points of my presentation: relevant and interesting subject
The weaker points: Need to know more about all the ins and outs of reputation

So I know what to do, now lets just do it!

I did already some search on “social reputation”

ToVisit:

i4giveu.com A social confession site
You have the opportunity to build your reputation before the community as a Heavenly angel or a doomed devil . Your journey to enlightenment on both sides begin with your confessions .

borrowme.com A bit like the fictional RentAthing
It is a place where people from local communities and trusted circles will borrow almost anything from one another.
Prosper.com Social lending site (more money focused than Borrowme)

Here’s what we need - a referee and a scorekeeper. Open (I didn’t say free, mind you) APIs in and out, not just links to feedback scores. Figure out the rules (keep it flexible) and let other applications feed the database. Somebody please build this. Or eBay, open up your Feedback API.

I’m not alone in pleading for this. See what Rob Hof and others have to say as well.

    Hey Sjors,

I didn’t know about BorrowMe.com until I read your post, and it’s interesting to see its similarities to my thesis after I did some experience prototyping. When I was looking at how something like RentAThing could get started, I fell back on the value provided by our real-world social communities. My exam’s on Wednesday, so I should have some stuff online after that point.
